Free Time

This is what I do in my free time. List the characters of Grey's Anatomy and try and figure out how old they all are. I have my reasons for my placements, so don't go bashing me!

Most Excited

The award for Most Excited goes to mikaelamcmillian. (Her blog is blocked to a point where even I can't see it so I'll respect her privacy and not even try to give you the link)

Last Monday when the Blog-A-Thon first started we were talking before my fifth hour class and she seemed so excited for it. That excitement made me excited and, it seemed, even Courtney excited. So, thanks for being your happy lovely self.

Congratulations, go ahead and put this lovely award on your blog.

Deep Thinking

The award for Deep Thinking goes to lifelove-n-hugs for her post titled Building up a wall.

In the post she compares others thoughts on love and hate with her own. Through this she is able to come to a conclusion that satisfies her own thoughts, truly deeply thinking. "We all carry hatred within us, let's not pretend otherwise." Her words are almost shakespearian with double meanings and a poetic flow leaving you wanting to read more.

Congratulations, go ahead and display this lovely award on your blog.

Best Overall Pictures

The awards for Best Overall Pictures goes to livingxforxmex.

Each and every picture she post (which is a lot) is perfect in their own way. Especially when doing the prompts she was able to find great pictures that fit perfectly. An accomplishment that is quite hard to come by.

Congratulations, go ahead and display this lovely award on your blog.

Personal Favorite

The award Personal Favorite goes to bcuzimbored for her post titled Overkill.

This post was my personal favorite because of the picture, it just makes me laugh each time. But it wouldn't work with out the words she put with it. "another negative aspect of my mom's cooking skills, she's a weensy eensy weensy meenie miney moe lover full of herself."

The words she spews show us how much she really loves food. Both of her parents have distinctly different cooking abilities, her dad thinks he can cook and her mom almost was once on at TV cooking show. Perfect, just perfect.

Congratulation, go ahead and display this lovely award on your blog.

Best First Blog

The Best First Blog award goes to iwantmoremeghan for her post titled Hate and Love.

In her post she list many different things about her life that she love and that she hates. The most meaningful is "i hate being told my dog has some sort of incurable, very painful stomach cancer. i hate hearing that surgery is not an option because it's too close to her spine. i hate the way my mom told us. i hate her dramatic/immature nature. i hate knowing Ally has maybe a year left. i...hate it."

Her simple (but precise) words show you how much she loves her dog, but hates what's happening to her. Just what I was looking for with the prompt Love and Hate.

2010 BlogAThon

For the first year I think we did pretty well. Don't you agree? People were posting and people were reading and commenting. True, it was a little bumpy. I guess I should have made the rules a bit more structured, if you wanted to blog about something else, then you could have, it's all about blogging and not about the prompts.

Any who, I want to thank everyone who participated in the Blog-A-Thon and give each of you a little gift.

This is a blog trophy of sorts that you can display on the side bar of your blog (or anywhere) by adding a picture gadget. This award goes to anyone who participated in the past weeks events.

Europa!

I'm an American.

That is something I use to define myself. We learned about it last year in AP, we define ourselves against certain things to see what we are not so we know what we are. I don't remember the word, but the definition stuck with me.

To be an European for a day would be interesting. So many accents to choose from and plus you are loved by Americans no matter what. Say something with that accent and you have them, seriously, at hello.

Spy-e-ness

"On the stroke of twelve, the spell will be broken and everything will be the way that it was before." - Fairy Godmother

What would you like to do for a day? Would you be someone? A fireman? A celebrity? Would you go somewhere?

Up Up And...

I would want to fly.

If figure I could play in the clouds and have no need of a car.

And I could just skip the whole morning bus ride, that's a big plus.

Super! Trooper!

"He's a bird, fireman, and a ghost?" - Jack Carter (Eureka)

To the side you can see I have a panel titled quotes, I don't know if you've noticed it before, but I tend to update it a lot. The quote from above was added a few weeks ago and since then a few others have been ushered in. I write them down so I can remember to use them for things such as this.

What superpower do you want? Do you even want the weight of a city on your shoulders?

McNaughton's Anatomy

"The human life is made up of choices. Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. And then there are the choices that matter. Love or hate. To be a hero or to be a coward. To fight or to give in. To live. Or die. Live or die. That's the important choice. And it's not always in our hands." - Derek Shepherd

Today I finished a really great book, and in that really great book it talked a lot about hospitals and you know what I realized, I don't really like hospitals. Think about it, we have built a building devoted to death, and at the same time one devoted to life. Quite the yin and yang.

In the main hospital shows I watch (Grey's, the old Scrubs, and ER) there has been pain and suffering. Even in quite little Scrubs that's supposed to be happy and funny. That nice little old lady dies and that nurse. In ER's final season opening that amazing black doctor died and his brother watched it happen. Then we have the messed up characters like the one with no kidney and lack of child, then the one who killed a murder on purpose and then he died of cancer. Goodness, even little British chick has a messed up love life. Then Grey's, where do I start here? Izzy? George? Denny? And now the whole shooting thing, people are going to be so depressed next season. I'm surprised any of these character can still stand!

I think I would like to be a psychologist. I've always wanted to listen to people's problems and list off weird mental illnesses. Then again, that could get dramatic, can you just see it being made into a TV show? Hello, any of my patients could bring a gun into the session and bang! people drop like flies.

Tradis

If any of you watch Doctor Who then you'll understand the title, if not then good luck to you all.

Today's prompt is titled Doctor Who, which really just means what type of doctor would you want to be if you could be any. You already have a super smart brain and money is no object, so what kind would you like to be?

Can't Wait!

"Life's a garden, April," I said. "Dig it."

I can't wait for this summer, and the book I'm reading right now is not helping my school blues.

I also can't wait for video tomorrow. I wrote the whole script tonight and I'm kinda' pumped. I hope the rest of the class likes what I did.

Most of all I can't wait until Courtney get's back. I really enjoyed our talk/water fight yesterday.

El Porvenir

The future, many people thought the year 2010 meant a life like the Jetson's. To their disappointment we got the iPad.

What do you think the future will hold? What will you do? You get a chance to predict the future, what do you see? What don't you see?

What does that word, future, mean to you?

Me?

To get anywhere in video class you need to learn to ask questions. I have always been good about asking questions, but I can understand why people would get intimidated around the cutaway people. Heck I still get a little intimidated around them!

Where are the tripods? Can I sign this out? When are we going to start? What's the new project? Can you show me how?

But when were in our own little groups, doing our own little thing (such as planning the next project) we need to ask questions.

What do we want to go for? Who will be in it? Who's gonna film? Can we check out a video camera? Do you want to edit? Does this make sense?

Especially when editing, questions arise.

How do you set a scratch disk? Render? Where did my project go? What did you save it as? How can I make this move? Where did you find that video filter? How come it won't import? Do you like this? Where is the voice over button again? What if I want to change the color?

Today, we started a whole class movie as our final project for the year. Mary came up with the idea and Mrs. Drew just rolled with it. Then she set us free.

Who's gonna be the director? Me?

Question?

Simple, ask a question. Maybe ask the readers, or somebody certain or maybe ask yourself one. You can get really creative with this one.

Iron Chef

You are my wife.
Good bye, city life.
Green Acres we are there.

Grilled cheese, just the thoughts brings me to a warm and comfortable memory of sitting in Grandma's kitchen eating grilled cheese with potato chips. According to the German exchange students we eat chips with everything, so it's fitting.

Dad inherited his mother's cooking ability, and same with mom. True, mom couldn't figure out the grill for the longest time, and dad didn't know where to find the strainers, but I think they're neck and neck with cooking.

Mom cooks more often then dad, mostly because I think she enjoys it more and if it were up to dad he would either a) give us McDonalds to eat or b) forget. Dad is harder on himself then mom is, so if something doesn't go the way he wants it to then he tends to give up. But if he struggles through it, he can be real wonder at the stove.

Still, his grilled cheese isn't as good.

Mother Vs. Father Cooking

A look into your home lives. So, is your mom the better cook? Or is your dad the real wiz in the kitchen. Maybe it's split down the middle or one is better at certain things then the other. Can either grill? Do they wear aprons that have weird sayings on them?

Maybe the real question here is, do either of them cook?

Or maybe there is a underling women vs. men problem here. Do you think women have it worse then men? Do you care at all?

Intense & Passion

"Ugg! I hate it!" Courtney whines about the song on the radio.

"Courtney, hate is a strong word." Replies her mother.

The feeling of the grass between my toes and the smell of wet asphalt. My body feels like it's swimming, the air is so thick I would need a butter knife to cut it.

A rustle from behind me makes me jump. Turning I make more noise then I wanted. The squirt gun is raised above my stomach and a crack allows water to flow slowly down my arm and tickle my arm pit.

The shock from the instant cold temperature freezes me, but only for a second. Soon I'm pumping and firing back at the opponent. My eyes sting from the water dripping from my hair and soon I'm forced to close them.

Blurred vision allows me to see my teal toe nail polish and purple swim shorts. The oncoming water ceases and I take the minuscule amount left in the super soaker and let it cascade over my head and body.

The last few moments outside are wonderful I love them, walking into the ice frozen house soaking wet is what I hate.

Hate And Love

Today's prompt is: Hate and Love.

This one is pretty self explanatory, what do you love and what do you hate, or who, or really another way those two words can be applied in this situation. Anywho, I'm looking for the best 'off the bat' post today so, maybe a prize will be in store for somebody!

My Offer To You

It has come to my attention that we (the bloging club) have come to a standstill of sorts. We seem to be inconsistently blogging, which is fine, but days even weeks between last post is not good for you or your readers.

So, being the person I am, I have come up with a solution. A blog-a-thon! Doesn't that sound fun?

Who ever wants to participate can, but once you start you have to make a pact to not stop. This is a pure self promise thing. I'm not making anyone sign on the dotted line. Just if you're maybe kinda' interested comment below.

Now the fun stuff. Each day for a week I will give you a word/phrase/topic that you will have to blog about. You can be creative as you want, but the idea is to make blogging fun again.

For example, say on Monday I give you the word Panda. You could write a pome, post pictures, tell us your opinions on the animals, or even give us the link to the Snapple commercial the pandas are in.

I will post the list this coming Sunday so you have a heads up for the week and the contest will go from midnight on the 23ed to midnight of the 30th. Start as soon as you want on Monday, I'll be blogging along with the list too, but I won't officially be in the contest.

Aside from the feeling of a job well done I will also be giving out prizes that the winners can proudly display on their blog sidebar, or can totally forget about.

Sign up while your thinking and keep checking in!

Only Time

Do you do what you do because you have a set limit of time on this planet?

Do you get married and have children and make a career so you can think back to your life as you're on your death bed?

What if time didn't matter?

Would you do things differently?

Uno, Dos, Tres

Lion's Garage Sale.

I really don't like selling or buying used things, I'm sorry. For some reason it's the cool thing in Woodbury, but it creeps me out. Like when we talk off our shoes in school and Meghan freaks, that what I feel like.

"You need to put the shoes back on!"

"You need to put your stuff back in your house!"

The good thing that come out of this whole ordeal was that we won 500 dollars. It was some lottery drawing that everyone is a part of if they hold a garage sale. The guy (and his whole family) came over just a few minutes after Christina arrived to start our Spanish skit.

Then we found out we could chat on google doc with Lauren (who couldn't get together with us)

Finally we saw an amazing blue bird that had a very pretty pattern on his back.

Just like Christina said, "These things come in threes."

Big Words

[Robin's recent relationship with an Argentinean named Gael and her switch to more natural habits after her trip are being discussed by the characters at the bar]
Barney: Please... vacation romances have an expiration date. Gael's got a 'best if banged by' sticker on him. Once your romance starts to stink, you'll dump his ass down the drain like sour milk, and go back to being "unevolved Robin", the one we actually like. Back me up here, Ted.
Ted: I'm just happy Robin's happy.
Barney: I'm telling you: Within three days...
[
Gael approaches]
Lily: Oh, here he comes-- switch to big words.
Barney: Within a triad of solar periods, you'll recognize your dearth of compatibility with your paramour and conclude your association.
Robin: My journey was transformative, and I reassert my commitment to both the aforementioned paramour, and the philosophies he espouses.
Gael: What are we talking of? Baseball?
Barney: This is all going to return to masticate you in the gluteals. Support my hypothesis, Ted.
Ted: I'm just jubilant my former paramour is jubilant.

I recently fell in love with How I Met Your Mother. It's a lovely sick day tv show to watch.

Silas

People magazine isn't a light read
I sit at the kitchen table reading about celebrities problems while trying to avoid mine
Trying not to throw up,
Trying not to pass out
Trying not to feel hungry
Trying not to think

I set down the magazine and slowly stand up
My legs feel better today
I tighten my robe around me
Opening the freezer I grab an ice cube

At the table I crunch on the cube
Still the bad taste is there
The house shivers as the door opens
At the same time the flood gates open

Drop Out

Everyday, it seems, I see Dani braiding her hair. It doesn't matter if she has it in a braid before Spanish, but by the end of the hour she has braided/re-braided her hair. It entertains me quite a bit.

Also, we now know it's called a convent, thanks Dani. What would we do without you?

Beauty school dropout,
No graduation day for you.
Beauty school dropout,
Missed your midterms and flunked shampoo!

Creative Essay - Dead Man Walking

5/6/10

Up the elevator I went and down so many corridors I was sure I wouldn’t be able to find my way out. Then one of the doors opened and I sat in a room smaller then my cell for what seemed like hours. Finally the door opened and in stepped special agent Cayman Reed Way.

“Liam Yorson, it’s been a long time.” He gave me a smile and from behind his back he produced a small leather scrap book. My scrapbook.

“Where did you get that?” I said, making sure to sound scared.

“I’m willing to cut you a deal. Give me the location and I won’t burn your book.” Way then took out a lighter and tried to start it.

“You can’t destroy state evidence Way, we both know that.” I smiled at him and before I knew it I was up against the wall and Way was right up in my face.

“Tell me where.” His breath smelled like stale coffee. The side of my head felt cold and I saw his gun pressed up against my skull.

“Never.” I whispered and closed my eyes. I felt his arm as he pulled on the trigger.

Way started laughing. “You think I would throw away my whole career just to kill you? No, I’m gonna’ see you fry. You should have gone with the lethal injection instead.”

A loud noise echoed through my head and it wasn’t until I was halfway down the hall way that I realized it was my own scream.

Take Your Memories

"Liz, you can't just storm off." Ragan tells me while walking up the stairs. "I know they weren't being very nice, but you can't just walk away."

I guess Ragan's right. I shouldn't have walked away, but I was a little mad and it's better for me to walk away, cool off and then come back. If I don't then I tend to say things I don't mean to say.

Though I figured that out of all my friends I know you'll always forgive me and I'll always forgive you. Even if, at times, we kinda' want to slap each other we'll always get over ourselves and chill.

So, I'm sorry. I love you guys. Here's a hug.

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me

Day 365

You are in the perfect place on your prefect journey. You are right when you are meant to be, because you choose it. In fact, you could not be more perfect then you are now.
