Gilmore Girls Challenge (eighteen)

Things that remind me of Gilmore Girls:

  • Jeeps
  • Ice Skating
  • Wrap Dresses
  • Russian Authors
  • Alarm Clocks
  • Baseball Caps
  • Spaghetti
  • She God
  • Jam
  • Graduating
  • Yellow Backpacks
  • Pay Phones
  • Origami and Karate (OH! I use this line all the time, this should have gone on that past post about using lines in real life, no one knows what I'm even talking about though, I haven't even gotten a laugh out of it...)
And thats just to name a few.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (seventeen)

My longest Gilmore Girls marathon....hum...I have to think about this one.

It might have been one of those nights that I stayed up sure late during the first viewing of all of the seasons back when we first got them for Christmas.

I have stayed up many a late night just to watch another episode. (and this goes for more then just Gilmore Girls)

Gilmore Girls Challenge (sixteen)

Rory lives on Peach street (in Stars Hallow) working from home. She is a journalist for the online magazine still, and has a blog that she update regularly with things that are going on in her life and the places she has been and has visited with her husband Jess, who is an acclaimed writer.

Logan still stops by time to time, Jess doesn't like him much. (This isn't new)

Gilmore Girls Challenge (fifteen)

My favorite boy!

Jess, by far. I also think he is the most rounded character. He develops so much in the course of the series. From 'bad boy' to 'man author'.

I think he's the one for Rory, he just took a long time in realizing it.
And in real life the two dated for three and a half years.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (fourteen)

The weirdest couple in the show is (hands down) Kirk and Lulu, I think Luke puts it perfectly when he says 'and in God's name I do not know why that nice girl lets you even a miles distance from her, but she does'.

But my favorite couple has got to be replacement Lane (I'm forgetting her name at the moment) and Brian. I think they were going to do something with them, but then the show ended...oh, sad times.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (thirteen)

The character that I wish was in the show more often would have to be Liz, accompanied with TJ.

I am charmed by Liz's name, after all it's quite amazing, but TJ has brought me some of the best laughs! (sharing Lorelai to repopulate the earth) The two are great together, and their wedding was great! Especially that Luke and Lorelai had to think about dead puppies not to laugh.
Plus is was Liz who knew they belonged together, she got Luke to buy the necklace for Lorelai. She did drone on about the 'different worm holes' to a point that the Doctor would be envious of, but I think she was just pulling it out of her butt to make Luke happier, even though it made him feel awkward.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (twelve)

I believe that Lorelai is now married to Luke and the two still live in Stars Hollow. Luke and his daughter have become very close and she has realized how overbearing her mother can be, she tends to like Lorelai better.

They haven't had any kids, seeing as they each already have one they don't need any more. They are content with their relationship together, the only bump is their Friday night dinners.

Chris has moved on with his life, getting higher up in his job and Gigi and him have a great relationship, even though she can be a bit bratty at times. He no longer bothers Lorelai, though the two are still connected because of Rory.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (eleven)

If I could have a crossover episode of Gilmore Girls and any other show...

I don't know that I would want to in the first place, but I think Eureka could be funny because both shows are about a little town and single parents with smart kids. That or maybe Grey's Anatomy, Richard could get sick and Emily could storm in with her troops (meaning Rory and Lorelai).

Gilmore Girls Challenge (ten)

When we first got the DVD's it was Christmas time, which ment it was acceptable for me to stay up later then normal.

The next few weeks (even leading into the school week) I would get as much Homework done as possible at school and race home to watch episodes of Gilmore Girls.

I watched them all in about a month (or maybe two?)
Surprisingly I wasn't sleep deprived...I bet it was because I kept on seeing them drink coffee.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (nine)

What do I want to Gilmore Girl's to make fun of?

Snooki, always snooki.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (eight)

First off, I would like to say that Woodbury would not be able to pull off any type of Stars Hollow event in any way shape or form. All we have is Woodbury Day's and I haven't even been to it.

I would have to say I would like to go to the town during the founders day festival, because it seems that odd things happen during that festival every year.

Or maybe the Festival of Living Art.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (seven)

Am I a Paris or a Lane?

...hum...I would have to go with a Lane. I can be eccentric, and I know so much about the movie industry and movies just like Lane knows so much about the music industry and songs. I have often dreamed of dying my hair purple, but never have.

Though my loyalty is like Paris, I may not say that you're special to me everyday, but when it counts I'm there for you, especially when someone is messing with my friends. (I would like to think that I would, if in Paris' storm across the cafeteria to tell Lucy she is missing out on having Rory as a friend.)

Gilmore Girls Challenge (six)

Ah, the Gilmore Girl's food. What isn't consumed on this show?

Being much like the ladies in there metabolism I could eat everything they eat and seriously be the same weight, that or loose a pound.
Two food items come to mind that I've eaten in real life because of the Gilms.

First one is biscotti, they eat it after coming back from Europe, Mom got it one day we decided to have a Gilms marathon. I didn't like it.

Second is parmesan cheese on pizza, Rory introduces this to her Grandparents when they get snowed in at there house and have nothing to eat, I had never had it before Gilmore Girl's made it cool to me.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (five)

My mom and I have a relationship that could make Rory and Lorelai envious.
It hasn't been until recently that I have been wary of saying things to Mom, but basically if I want to talk to her about things, I tell her the whole story, no hypothetical 'my friend is in this predicament...' She's very good about not freaking out about things, she didn't go and call everyone's parents after she witnessed that things that happened on my 13th birthday. Recently I have been slowly coming to terms that Mom and I are different in the way we looks at and tend to lead our lives.

When ever I think about their relationship I think about how Lorelai says to Rory when she storms off to Europe with Emily that 'shouldn't you have been going through this phase years ago'. Meaning that Rory is acting like a teenager, hating her Mom and such.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (four)

I have never thought about any of the Girlmore Girl's characters being anything like anyone I know. It's not something I have ever thought about until today. It's kinda' hard to think about any person you've met in real life being like a fictional character, in fact it may be a little unfair to the real life people.

With that said, I find Ragan to be a lot like Rory. I just noticed that they both have 'R' as the first letter of their name, they also have unique names.

They both wear conventional clothing, nothing to showy. They both love to read and can be very fast at it. They both are great at writing and do exceptional in school. They also both hold their self in high expectations, wanting to make a good living and do well in life since the beginning. They both are shy around boys and can sometimes get a bit caught up in it. They both have unique beast friends and tend to shy away from confrontation.

I also figure Lane's great knowledge of music is much like Christina's and Meghan's (I guess I should throw Son(i)ya in there too) knowledge of music. Neither of them hid things in the floor boards and have crazy mom's who tell them they will have to do something dirty on their wedding night, but in the music sense.
And yes I am aware that Lane is based on Amy Sherman-Palladino's best friend

Gilmore Girls Challenge (three)

One of the most memorable quotes from Gilmore Girls has got to be 'Oy with the poodles already!" which I have seen on many Gilmore Girl's paraphernalia that quote. I've seen mugs, t-shirts, mouse pads, you name it with that on it.

Another memorable one is 'Babette ate oatmeal', which originated from Kirk's plan to make t-shirts with things that happened in the town.

I mostly remember quoting 'copper boom!' with Hannah on the bus. Neither of us could remember what 'copper boom!' was from in Gilmore Girls, so I looked it up and found that it means quickly. So we used that for a week and then it died out.

Mom and I once were talking about Lorelei whining to Rory about how she couldn't write the reference letter for Luke in the 7th season. She said that she tried to write down what she was thinking and got a lot of scary gibberish that ended with 'Monkey monkey underpants', so I say that sometimes to Mom.
Other then that I really don't quote Gilmore Girls much.

Gilmore Girls Challenge (two)

The first ever snippet of Gilmore Girls I saw was during a commercial for the show. It was when Rory walks into Luke's and says, 'If it isn't the wonderful Gilmore girl(s)', I believe she is holing shopping bags and is wearing a red jacket, probably winter.

That didn't make me jump at the show, instead it was good old Kirk who made me interested.

It was during the seventh season, after Kirk drove Taylor's car into the diner forcing it to shut down for a few weeks to get repaired. Luke storms across the road when TJ informs him that he got coffee from Kirk's, a diner that has an odd resemblance to Luke's, aside from it being outside. The menu is the same, the 'no cell phones' sign, Kirk's outfit is like Luke's, and his sign looks like Luke's sign. After Luke yells at him, Kirk gives him a job application saying he sounded strapped for cash. Luke isn't happy.

Link is here ---> Kirk's vs. Luke's

Now, I had just happened to flip the channel, I had been watching no more then thirty seconds when Mom walked into the room. She asked what show I was watching, I informed her it was just a show I 'watched all the time'. I didn't know I would grow to love the Gilmore Girls and realize how funny Kirk can be.

I Want This

I'm not a huge fan for Doonesbury, but I read it in the paper every Sunday.

This one sticks with me, I just love Leo!

Borders Weeps For Us

Immediately I find one of the four books I am looking for. I pick up How to Read Novels like a Professor (a book recommended by Ms. Swenson) and circle the table looking for it's sister, How to Read Literature like a Professor. I don't see it.

Putting that one aside I look at the yellow post-it note stuck on the first book. The Metamorphosis and Other Stories, it says, Dover publications, and then I have the ISBN number written on it. I'll leave that for later, when I can look up the author. I then reach for the second post-it.

It's not there.

I wrinkle my face, I must have forgotten to take the post it down from my room. I'll just call Courtney.

Two minutes later, I am calling Sonia. Courtney had lost the sheet, and had directed me to Sonia or Meghan. Sonia then told me to call Meghan because she had misplaced her sheet. Then I got Meghan's voicemail.

I didn't leave a message.

Screw it, I thought, I'll just go home and find it myself. Apparently no one is as organized as me.

Have you heard of folders people?

*All in good fun

Gilmore Girls Challenge (one)

Day one: Are you a Lorelai or Rory?

I eat like both of them, and I have the unimaginable metabolism that makes me loose a pound after eating everything in my kitchen cupboard. In that respect I am like the fabulous Gilmore girls, but I don't drink coffee. I know, not at all like either of them.

At first I thought I was a Rory. I do well in school, and have an amazing best friend, but I realized Rory is very shy, not at all like me.

Now, Lorelai, on the other hand, is not shy at all. I don't avoid confrontation and am not afraid to go up against my parents. I also tend to talk like her, quick and in a way that people who only know me very well can understand. I also don't like change and surround myself with people who like me the way I am. Our main difference is, I didn't have a kid at sixteen, thank goodness.

A Night To Remember

My night started at three, when mom told me that I was to start getting ready. I was sitting in our living room in my pj's and my Northern Arizona University sweatshirt on, sporting crumbs and remnants of the cupcakes I had gotten at Ragan's the night before. Cupcakes are great for breakfast.

So, at 4:10 we were picked up for dinner by Grandma and Grandpa. I had fought with Gretchen half shaved my legs and taken so long to find an outfit that I didn't want to go.

Yet, there I was sitting in the back of Grandma and Grandpa's car last night typing away on my new iphone this post channeling my inner teenage angst.

Ordinary Wizarding Levels

Seeing Sam walk in front of me with his newly shaved head gives me the jump start I need. I slip into the check in line after saying a quick hello to him as he sits down next to me. Why did I have to wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt? Not that I have any thing 'for' him, but I like to look good in front of people I know, especially people from video. I check and see Nora will be escorted into the testing room soon. I walk into the room an immediately am transported.

I walk down the asile at a brisk pace. My black Hogwarts robes touch the top of my shoes and billow out behind me. I am directed to a chair by Professor Flitwick who is waving his wand around the big Hogwarts hall arranging chairs in an acceptable order.

My desk is smaller then I would have imagined coming from Hogwarts. Can't they just put an enlarging charm on them? I would like to be able to fit two pieces of paper on the desk. Is that asking too much?

I slip into my seat, pooling my robes on the floor and look behind me to see Nora sitting down in her chair too. Her blue Ravenclaw crest can been seen from my seat, she's the center chaser for the Ravenclaw team, destined for the Sweetwater All-Stars quidditch team from Texas. Sam sits down too, his yellow Hufflepuff crest sits proudly on his chest, the beater for Hufflepuff, but nothing to brag about. I look down and am surprised to see a red crest displaying Gryffindor on my robes.

Professor McGonagall directs a hanging piece of fabric from the ceiling to say O.W.L.'s, I am not looking forward to this. Suddenly I shiver in my seat.

I find myself in a freezing cold gymnasium looking at an SAT proctor who doesn't know what he's doing at all. I sigh and look back at Nora then the ceiling, just incase I missed any floating candles when I walked in.

In Honor...

I think Christina will like this. (click to read bigger image)
In honor of the upcoming Harry Potter, don't worry there's more.
